Tattoo Bob
Tattoo Bob has been the go-to tattoo and piercing specialist in Rotterdam Katendrecht since 1968. As one of the first tattoo shops in the Netherlands and the country's oldest tattoo artist, the studio is known for its professional approach and medical precision.
The brief
Tattoo Bob approached us to take a critical look at their existing website. The site already ranked well in search engines like Google, but there was still plenty of room to improve on design. Our task: enhance and optimise the existing website in terms of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI).

The challenge
Tattoo Bob's website holds a large volume of content and imagery, which meant the structure and flow had to be mapped out with real precision to preserve the site's strength. On top of that, Tattoo Bob already had a distinctive, recognisable brand identity that couldn't get lost in the new design. The challenge was combining that recognisability with a modern, clear user experience that works well on every screen size.
Our approach
Interaction & user experience design
We started with brainstorming sessions to redefine the website's structure and flow. Building on that foundation, our UX designer began tweaking the flow and building wireframes. This gave us a base that preserved the site's existing strength, despite the sheer volume of content and images.
Visualisation
During the visualisation phase we translated the interaction design into a visual design, with the focus on preserving the brand identity and getting the right look and feel. Our UI designer added Tattoo Bob's colours and typography into as many elements as possible. We also designed for tablet and mobile, not just desktop, so the website scales responsively and stays readable and functional on every format.
Development
Our developers translated the design into working code, using HTML and CSS for the front-end and PHP for the back-end. The website was build in our own CMS (dare to manage), giving Tattoo Bob the ability to edit text and add images themselves, without needing to touch any code.
The result
Tattoo Bob now has a website that not only ranks well, but also convinces visitors the moment they land on it. The recognisable brand identity stands out more clearly, the structure is easier to navigate, and the site runs smoothly across desktop, tablet, and mobile. The digital experience finally matches Tattoo Bob's status as the oldest and most experienced tattoo artist in the Netherlands.
